Communities target and solve own problems

Newark pilot program helps residents help selves

Called the Super Neighborhood Community Covenant, the program will bring together community-based organizations in area councils that will prioritize concerns. The councils will allow neighborhood groups to join forces in solving problems and gain better access to city services.

Newark City Council removes ethics reform measures from consideration
The Newark City Council hit a snag on January 9th in its efforts to pass ethics legislation that would reform the way those who do business with the city contribute money to elected officials and candidates for public office.  The planned measures were removed from consideration by the city council.

Keeping a high-tech eye on downtown Newark
Starting 2007, Newark police will be installing 60 new digital video cameras throughout Newark, making it the latest city to rely on the high-tech tools to help combat crime and capture criminals.
